Moving on the 'Big School'

We prepare the children for primary school to enable them to derive the maximum benefit from ‘Big School’. We place great emphasis on play-based pre-reading, pre-writing and pre-mathematical skills that can easily be neglected in the desire to move on to the actual skills themselves. However, the more able children are kept fully stimulated by giving them a broader base.

 

The Pre-school Unit is situated next to the reception classroom on the primary school site and with some shared areas completes the Early Years wing of the school. Pre-school and school work together to provide the best transition when your child starts school. The reception teacher visits the Pre-school and the older pre-schoolers spend time in the reception classroom prior to starting school.
